Just fishing

Creative movements Challenge 31
27th November
Anything Goes/

Our sponsor is
A Day For Daisies

I choose an image of a little boy fishing

I printed out the image and used my distressed inks to make the background
look like he was sat fishing on the edge of a river.   And added a die cut tree.
I used powder, pastel and denim blues for the dungarees,
and a mix of cool greys for the pot and worms,
and mounted it in a piece of blue card stock.

I then cut out some other dies ( a fisherman and a fish corner)

I decided to stick with natural colours and choose a sheet of A4 kraft card folder in half as a base,
I then raided my scrapbooking papers and found the backing paper and ripped it to fit the area
I wanted it to cover, and the mounted the image on the front.

I finished it off with a tag coloured with the same inks as I have used for the back ground of  the image  (shabby shutters & salty ocean)

Naughty Angel

My image to use for this weeks challenge at
which was add some chipboard

was Nobody's Perfectt

I looked at the image at the angel with a fallen halo, and wondered how here halo had fallen,
maybe she had fallen from the top of the tree, hence the tree backing paper.

I die cut a piece of gold mirror board, using an oval and cut it to fit over the halo.
I coloured the hair with yellows and then the skin (with skin tones)
then I outlined the white areas with cool grey 1 to make it look white.

I mounted the image on to a piece of black card,
and then die cut the tattered lace Merry Christmas  die
and mounted it on to a piece of white card

Luckily I manage to find a little chipboard angel to meet the "add some chipboard" requirement
which I added to the bottom corner.

Tea time

Sorry not been around for a while...

This week at Creative moments   we have  floppy latte images

The Image I choose was the tea time one...   as it could be any colours
I looked at the cups and decided they should be mainly white, so they looked china like.

The colours I used:

Top cup: Fuchsia Pink, Orchid  and Grass
Middle cup : Rose Pink
Bottom cup:  Blossom, Pink Carnation & Grass
Once I had coloured the cups I went around the edges with cool grey 1

I mounted the image on to a pale pink  card and then a sheet of a darker pink.
This was then mounted onto a piece of A4 darker pink which was folded in half for the card base.  but before I stuck it down I added die cut two doilies at the bottom of the card.
I then cut a piece of bunting and the letters  C H E E R S
from another shade of pink to finish off the image

Lucky Larry

On October the 5th I was lucky enough to be selected to be the
GDT at The Stamping chef  in the " Saturday spotlight"

I had Lucky Larry to use to make something with

I found a plain brown bag and decided to use that as a base (instead of a card).
I also found some die cut shamrocks, which fitted with the lucky theme
I thought of someone was leaving and the gift could be put in the bag.

So I coloured the image and mounted it on to some green card.
to create what looked like a ribbon on the bag, I punched a thin bit of card,
and stuck a thinner bit in the middle, but the piece  it wasn't long enough,
so I cut it in the middle to make it fit behind the image.

I finished the bag off with the shamrock die cuts.

Owls / autumn

The challenge over at Creation Moments Challenge blog this week is

Delicious doodles /  Owls / Autumn.
I had a lovely image of a barn owl

Looking at him made me thinking of an owl sat in a tree.
So I embossed a sheet of brown card, so It looked like the bark of a tree.

After tinting the image with a caramel pro-marker,
I then  had to then made it look like he was looking out of a hole in the truck of the tree,
so I cut the image out using a circle die.

To make the leaves  I took a piece of white card a spritzed it with a couple of dylusions.
Once dry I used one of my leaf dies to cut out a number of leaves.

After covering the front of a 6x6 card blank with a piece of patterned paper,
which reminded me of forest / trees.
I then mounted the embossed card on to the paper,
and the stuck the owl image in the centre.
Finally I stuck the leaves around the "hole".

To finish off the card, I added a sentiment.

Cakes .... cream tea

Something totally different ......

I haven't had much time recently to take part in any challenges.
I have to look after my disabled / elderly father & have no other family to help,
and have had a lot of running around for him lately

So I thought I would see if I could make a card quickly.....

Then I remembered some decoupage sheets I made..
A while ago I had a go at making my own decoupage sheets

I saw a number of challenges which mentioned food,
so I thought I'd make a card with one of the sheets.

This time my card is totally printed and no colouring.

I printed the image out so it had five layers, cut them out and mounted them on to a lacy background,  I was seeing it as being the lacy table cloth.
To finish it off I added a sentiment

I have entered this in the following challenges :

Stamp N Doodle

I have recently been invited to join the DT over at Stamp N Doodle

The challenges over at the Stamp N Doodle this month were :

11th September : Spots N stripes
18th September :  Stitching - Real or faux
25th September : In the garden

We were given 3 images to choose from.
Cry Babies,    You're Joking right!   and  I dressed all by myself

When I first looked at the images,  I thought of what papers I could use, then I remembered, I have a pile of papers that have come out of the centre of craft magazine, so I challenged myself to use them for these challenges.

I decided to use  "I dressed all by myself"  for Spots and Stripes.
First I found the papers and tried to pull some colours from the backgrounds.
I covered half the card blank with the spots and the other  half with the spots.
Then a sprit of black card across the join, which I also mounted the image on

The colours I used for this one where:
Skin : vanilla, satin & almond.
The Tutu: Bright orange, peach and honeycomb
The top and leggings were: Gold, pastel yellow & sunflower.

I used the cry babies image for Stitching - Real or Faux.

I found some blue gingham papers and a contrasting blue paper.
I mounted a piece of the gingham into a grey card blank.
I took inspiration for the colours from the papers.

The colours I used :
Skin : vanilla, satin & almond
For the dresses :Powder blue, pearl blue & denim
& sky blue, cyan and Artic blue
Boots: Indigo blue
seat:  mint & pastel green

After colouring the image I matted it onto the blue paper and then on to a piece of green card.
I then added Faux stitching around all the layers.
and finished off with a sentiment mounted on to a circle of the green card.

In the Garden  -the image I used was  You're Joking right!
I searched through my papers and found some with flowers in which said in the garden to me.
one sheet also have a flower and butterfly on it.
Again I decided to use the colours in the papers as inspiration for the colours

The colours I used for this one where :
Skin : vanilla, satin & almond
Dress : Peach Gold & Pastel yellow.

I mattered the border on to the bottom half of the Kraft card,
and then added a piece of contrasting green to the top part.
then matted the image on to a piece of green card
and then onto a piece of Kraft card.
The image was then stuck onto the front of the card.
To finish off,  I added the butterfly and the flower,
which i added a gem to the middle.
To finish it off i added a butterfly shaped gem to the girls hair

The Stamping Chef vs Simply Betty Stamps #2 Bite me

For this challenge  I picked the TSC image to use ...  "Bite me"
The image it not one I would normally use, but I like to challenge myself to use different images..

The latest thing I am doing in my challenges, is challenging myself to use the pile of papers
I have that have come out of old craft magazines,
and use their colours as an inspiration for the colours I use to colour the image.

I found some papers that were green with pink roses, the reverse side was plain green.

I covered the card blank with the roses, and then mounted a strip of the green on to a piece of black card, and the stuck to the middle of the card.
I wasn't sure what colours to use for the hair / top, but as I had use the black card, I decided to use black for the hair, and a lighter shade (grey) grey for her top.
The colours I used were
Skin:  vanilla, satin & almond
Hair:  Black & cool grey 4 & 5.
Top :  Cool grey 1,2 & 3
Roses:  Fuchsia & carnation pink.
I went around the edges of the skulls and web with cool grey 1.

Once coloured in, I cut the image out using a oval die and then cut a mat out of black card.

The stamping chef
"Put a ring on it challenge"

The image as it suggests shows a bride with her ring.

The  colours used to colour the image were
Dress :  blossom, pale pink and baby pink
Skin: Vanilla, satin, almond.
Hair: Tan, Gold, Pastel Yellow
Leaves:  leaf & grass green
Rose : poppy & berry red.
Eyes: powder blue & Lips: baby pink

Once I have coloured In the image I cut a frame
from silver mirror board using
a Tonic Diamond swing ovals die set.
and cut the centre of it out using a spellbinders oval die.

I then cut the image so the flowers would be in front of the frame
and the lady behind, (cutting along the petals of the flowers)

I then embossed a sheet of A4 pink card
using an  embossibilites folder - floral vines.
And folded it in half to make an A5 card blank.
And mounted the frames image on to the
card, and added a sentiment

.

 Challenge 25: Birthdays
I have recently been invited to be on the Creative Moments Design Team
For my first challenge I was sent a
Digi image and given the theme of  birthday.
this challenge is sponsored by :
Stamp N Doodle

The image I was sent was one of some penguins
I immediately thought of snow and so to of Christmas.
So, off I went to look for my silver glitter spray
and sprayed a sheet of A4 copier paper
I sprayed a bit spotty, but it added to the effect.
I then tore the paper and placed in front of the penguins
so it looked like they were standing in the snow.
I then took a piece of sliver mirror board
to mount the image on.
I then mounted that onto another piece of the glittered paper
I then took an A4 sheet of a silver/ grey card
and an Embossalicious let it snow
A4 embossing folder
This was folded in half to create an A5 card
I then mounted the image into the card
and added 3 snowflakes, made using a
Martha Stewart  snowflake punch
Finally as it had to be a birthday card, I added
a sentiment strip along the both of the image

Things I used:
Sheet of a4 copier paper
Glitter spray (CC)
Silver Mirror board
Martha Stewart snowflake punch.
a4 grey/ silver card
A4 snowflake embossing folder

Delicious Doodles with Dies

Through the purple haze challenge for this week was...
Delicious doodles with dies

The image I used was Just Purr-fect
The first thing I did was select the colours to use.
so I choose the following colours from my promarkers:
Hair: Tan, Gold, Pastel Yellow
Skin: Vanilla, satin, almond
Cat: Caramel, Cinnamon, Oatmeal & Pastel beige
leaf green for his eyes.
Dress: Powder, pastel & artic blue.
Lips: Antique rose
After I had coloured the image in
I mounted it on a piece of pale blue card
Then I selected :
a sheet of A4 brown card,
a sheet of A4 Trellis card (anna marie designs)
and die cut some tattered lace ivy dies from a sheet of dark green card.

I folded the A4 Brown card in half, and then cut a piece of the trellis
to fit to the front of the card. I then added the image on top of the trellis
using foam tape,
and then stuck the pieces of ivy on to the trellis.

I then looked at it and  realised I needed something else, so to finish it off
I looked for a sentiment and added it to the bottom left hand corner of the card.

TSC KittyPawVultura

At  The Stamping Chef  the challenge was to use
The Kitty Paw Vultura image,
The recipe was: 1 ribbon, 2 buttons 3 pieces of background paper

When I first saw this I wasn't too sure of what colours to use,
it is not the sort of image I tend to use, but I was determined to give it ago.

I coloured the image using the following colours:
Clothing: Purple Amethyst & Orchid,
Leaf green and  Lime green
Hair: Tan, Gold, Pastel yellow & Buttercup
Skin: Vanilla,  Almond and satin
Helmet: Black, cool grey 5 & 6

I then mounted the image onto a piece of purple paper.
The card itself is a sheet of matching purple card that had been embossed
with a  "tyre track" spellbinders embossing folder.

I cut out green and black paper
using the tonic elegant vine square.

I matted the green die cut onto the black die cut and added the image.
I then placed the word ribbon across the bottom, before adding the "topper"
the final touch was the buttons.

I finished this one really late and was not able to find any
other challenges to enter this into, but
I hope you like my creation and will stop by again soon

lacy sunshine @ christmas

For Through the purple haze Challenge

This weeks
theme was Bingo using Lacy sunshine images

For the bingo element , we had to choose three items in a row,
I choose bling (glitter) , die cuts and an stamped image.

My image was a of Lacy sunshine sat on a cup cake
At first  I wasn't sure what colours to use,  and so many of us crafters
start to make Christmas cards this time of year,
so I decided to turn it into a Christmas card.

I started off colouring in the image
So the I searched through my pro-markers to find some
red and greens for the dress and tights.
next I looked for  some browns
for the cupcake wrapper
and a yellow shade for her hair.
To bling it up and added some glitter on the fairy's wings
 and the cupcake topping.

For the poinsettia, I used a tonic die set (that included the card) ,
I shaped each leaf and glued together using pinflair glue

I then took a sheet of A4 white card and  embossed through
my ebosser using my holiday holly embossing folder
I then folded it in half to make the card base.

The image needed a mat to mount it on the card base,
so to compliment the green used on the image,
I die cut a mat and a sentiment from dark green card
Well that's one Christmas card done.... .

Chocolate Bars

A friend was asking about doing something different
for a children's party - for they to take home

I suggested she do something like this in the theme
of the party and then put a message on the back to
stick the wrapper together.

I took a wrapper off of one of the bars of chocolate,
I then  the used this as a template, and to judge the size I need to print it off
Then created the labels  including the image on my PC

I then printed them all off, cut them out and wrapped around the chocolate bars
If they are to be given away at a party
a message could be stuck on the back

I wish to enter this into the following challenges
and   Alys Crafty challenges (on facebook)  Anything but a Card

Monday 12 August 2013

Scarlett Hunger

I started off with the full image, and coloured it in Purple and black.
I felt it was better framed,  so die cut various frames
 using my spellbinder dies
I then added a sheet of black and white paper to one side of the
front of an A5 card blank.
To finish it off I added a shoe die
Hope you like it

Crafty Sentiments...

The through the purple haze challenge
with  Crafty Sentiments

I have coloured "Kay - thinking of you image" with pro-markers
 (cyan, satin and oatmeal)
This is the first time I have used pro-makers
or coloured in an image come to that !!

I die cut the coloured image out of the white paper with a scalloped circle
die, and cut a piece of turquoise paper using the next size up
Then I used distress edges die to cut the rectangular mat,
and mounted both to a pale blue card base.
The silver dies are a  fanciful flourish  (Cheery Lynn),
I cut two, one I put onto the rectangular mat
and  added a brown and blue paper flower with a white brad,
and used part of the second one to go with the white flower,
which I added a blue brad to.
The last thing was a ticket sentiment
which was also coloured with cyan.

Anything with flowers.......

The through the purple haze second challenge was anything with flowers,  so I have used some images from my house mouse decoupage sheets and a sheet printed from a one of my Joanna sheen cd's.

For this one I used a lilac card and matted purple mirri board on to it.
I then cut out  the decoupage sheet and matted  on to a sheet of green gingham paper.
To finish I used coloured some silver leaves with a green pro-marker, then added two paper white flowers and added two small purple buttons in the middle of the flowers.
A sentiment was then added to the top left hand corner

Like the above card I started with a lilac card blank.  I then printed out the decoupage sheet and a backing sheet from a Joanna sheen cd.
I wrapped a piece of piece of lilac organza ribbon, and a small piece of lilac ribbon around the backing paper and attached to the front of the card.
I then made up the decoupage and stuck to left hand side of the card.
and then finished off with a vertical happy birthday peel off

First challenge cards ... Indigo Blu

Here are cards the first challenge cards I have ever made:

I had 3 stamps to use a bird , leaves and a sentiment

For the first one i took a piece of Kraft card
stamped the leaves randomly (in black) on the front
I then stamped two on a piece of green patterned paper and cut them out.
Two mats where then cut (using a spellbinders die)
the bigger one in brown and the smaller in white.
The sentiment was stamped on to the white one
and ink around the edges using distress ink
A strip of ribbon was put done the middle,
en the sentiment added, and finally the leaves.

The second card is a a5 whte card,
I coloured with the same distress ink
The leaves were done the same way as the card above,
as too were the mats, but this time i added a gold layer
and stamped the bird in the middle

Recently I met up with a few of the girls from
Alys crafty challenges (FB group)

and I was luckily enough to be shown how to use dyluison inks
and made some tags

Both started of as white.
I sprayed each with various colours of dylusions.
I also embossed a piece of acetate
cut to the same size / shape as tag

I added a heart cut from a piece of hessian
and then tied the acetate tag to the other with a piece of "string"

To the bottom one I added a piece of ripped newspaper
and a die cut tree and finished it off as the other one
tied a piece of "string" though the hole of the tag

Wednesday 5 June 2013

lets start at the beginning.....

I started card making about 10 years ago, when i developed alopecia,   there was a suggestion it could be due to stress,  so i thought i would give it ago as people said it was relaxing.....
I started with a kit or two, then a box, then a small cupboard,  well there is no room in the garage for the car now !!!     I love to make cards and also scrapbook - when I can find photos  to do pages.
I like to see the looks on peoples faces when you give them a handmade card, and when they look through my scrapbook pages
